Shareholders -
Warmest Winter in Recorded History. The past winter was the warmest Utah winter in recorded history. Along with that comes an extremely low snowpack. This situation is going to cause water shortages later in the summer. We depend on the snowpack in our watershed to replenish our reservoirs as the summer goes on. Without that snowpack, we will likely fall below replacement flow significantly earlier than in average years. There is a possibility that we may exhaust our water supply before the season concludes. To combat this expected shortage, we plan to start the system somewhat later than usual. Our plan is to start delivering water around May 1 depending on our storage levels and weather. We will inform shareholders of the system startup via email and signs in the neighborhoods. We will also be strictly enforcing the annual allotments. We will again be charging overage fees if you exceed your allotment; however, if it appears that shortages are likely and you have exceeded your annual allotment, water delivery to your meter will be suspended for the rest of the year. This is a crucial measure to ensure that the entire system does not deplete its water supply too early in the season. It is your responsibility to monitor your usage throughout the year in order to make sure that you are not using too much water. We will be doing meter readings in the first week of each month so you can keep up to date on your usage. We urge everyone to adjust their watering schedules to reduce consumption and adapt to drought conditions. We are holding our annual shareholder meeting on 3/26/26 at 6:00 PM at the Mountain Green Middle School. All shareholders are welcome to join and participate. We will provide an overview of the year, including our system status and budget.
Attention - Rollins RanchNotice to shareholders who reside in Rollins Ranch:
Many of you may not know that the secondary water provided to Rollins Ranch comes from Northwest Reservoir. This resource is shared with numerous other agricultural users. During the recent Northwest Irrigation Company board meeting, they discussed the lack of water in various creeks that normally flow into the reservoir. Other discussions included the fact that the water level in the reservoir has dropped 4-5 feet in the two weeks since their last measurement. Due to their concerns of ensuring the availability of water for the remainder of the season, the Northwest board will place restrictions on watering starting August 1st that may include the following:
The Mountain Green Secondary Water board will be meeting soon to determine the appropriate course of action for Rollins Ranch users this season and to explore potential long-term improvements to the system. We will share further updates as soon as they become available. We appreciate your cooperation and understanding. -MGSWC Board |
